Everest Poem

mount everest
If I was a little bird,
This is where I’d go,
Up to the top,
Of Mount Everest,
To fly around the snow…
The tallest peak,
On the Earth,
The highest place to be,
I’d look down,
On the world,
Imagine what I’d see…
The Himalayan mountain range,
Nepal and then Tibet,
Climbers climbing inch by inch,
Not the summit yet…
29,035 feet,
Up there in the sky,
If I was a little bird,
That is where I’d fly…

What is Mount Everest?

Mount Everest is the mountain with the highest elevation above sea level. Its peak is at 29,035 feet (8,850m).

Everest is part of the Himalayan mountain range in Asia which is the range that includes the highest mountain peaks on Earth.

The Himalayas have over 100 mountains that are more than 23,600 feet tall (7,200 m).

The next highest mountains are found in the Andean Mountain range in South America, and their highest peak is on Aconcagua which is ‘only’ 22,841 feet (6,962 m).

After Everest, the second highest mountain on Earth is K2 which is 28,251 feet (8,611 m) high.
