Conductors and Insulators SONG

battery cartoon
When I was kind of little,

My uncle said to me,

I think I’ll teach you all about,

Electricity…

Conductors are the things,

That let electric past,

It’s voltage, and it’s current,

move through them very fast!

Conductors, Conductors, he said, don’t go touch conductors,

Conductors can carry, electricity,

Conductors, conductors, he said, “don’t go touch conductors,

Touching conductors, can shock you easily…”

Then my uncle told me,

Safety is the key,

When you work with amps and volts of Electricity…

Insulators protect us,

They won’t let current through,

Insulators protect us,

That’s something they can do!

Insulators, insulators,

impede electron’s flow,

Insulators, insulators,

Can stop a shock, can stop a shock

Insulators, insulators,

impede electron’s flow,

Insulators, insulators,

Can stop a shock, can stop a shock…

SPOKEN:
Conductors are materials that let electricity pass through them. Many of the best conductors are metals, that’s why our electric wires are often made from the metal, copper.  Other materials can conduct electricity too. Liquids such as water and acid can be good conductors of electricity, so always be especially careful with electricity around liquids, such as when you’re in the bathtub!

Insulators are materials that help stop the flow of electricity. Some materials that are insulators are rubber, glass, wood, and plastic. Remember no material is a perfect insulator, and if there’s enough voltage, electricity can travel through insulators, so always use caution when handling anything electric!

Conductors, Conductors, he said, don’t go touch conductors,

Conductors can carry, electricity,

Conductors, conductors, he said, “don’t go touch conductors,

Touching conductors, can shock you easily…”

Insulators, insulators,

impede electron’s flow,

Insulators, insulators,

Can stop a shock, can stop a shock,

Insulators, insulators,

impede electron’s flow,

Insulators, insulators,

Can stop a shock, can stop a shock…
