Pluto Poem

pluto and moons

Is Pluto a planet?
Apparently not!
Poor Pluto a planet?
That title was shot!
A planet one time,
Ninth from the sun,
But now was demoted,
As it just spun...
Cold ice and hard rock,
Far out in dark space,
With Eris and Ceres,
It shares a strange place,
It’s a dwarf planet,
Orbits the skies,
But not a ‘real’ planet,
Based on its size!

planet song- teach the order of the planets

Back in the olden days when I was going to elementary school, Pluto was the ninth planet from the sun. Unfortunately, the "planet" label for Pluto has been revoked and it is now considered a dwarf planet. Alas, it still orbits the sun like our Earth, but it has not "cleared its neighborhood" which means it is not necessarily the dominant gravitational force in its orbital zone- there are some other big objects floating around on their own.
